MyVocabNow Privacy Policy
Version 1.0. Effective and last updated: 2026-11-06.
This policy explains what information MyVocabNow: Korean Words ("MyVocabNow", "the app", "we") collects, why, and the choices you have. The app is operated by Nzenlabs, 201-501, 58, Myeonmok-ro 27-gil, Jungnang-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea ("we", "us").
If you have questions, contact us at info@nzenlabs.com.
Summary
- Your vocabulary, study history and voice recordings stay on your device.
- Texts you paste for analysis are sent to our server to find words, and we do not keep the text after returning the result.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time.
- We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information stored on your device
The following stays on your phone and is not uploaded to us:
- Your wordbooks, words, example sentences you saved, and the texts you added (we keep a copy on the device so you can pick more words later).
- Your study history (which cards you studied, which syllables you tapped, quiz results).
- Your voice recordings ("My voice"). Recordings never leave the device unless you export them yourself.
- App settings (language, voice, speed, reminders).
Deleting the app deletes this data. If you delete a text in the app, its copy and analysis results are deleted from the device.
2. Information we process on our server
Account
When you first open the app, it creates an anonymous account identifier through Firebase Authentication so that it can talk to our server. No name or email is attached to it.
To analyze your own texts you sign in with Apple or Google. The sign-in is attached to the same identifier. We receive an account identifier from the sign-in provider (through Firebase Authentication) and, if the provider shares it, your email address. We use them to keep your analysis credits, word pack picks and subscription status, and to restore them on a new device. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only receive a relay address.
Texts you analyze
When you add a text, the app sends it to our server. The server splits it into words and asks AI providers (see section 4) for meanings, tags and example sentences. The result is held only until your device receives it, and then the text and the result are deleted from the server. If your device never collects it (for example, you cancel the analysis or delete the app), it is deleted within 24 hours.
We keep a small record of each job without the text or the words: an identifier, your account identifier, the time, the kind of job, the number of words found, whether it failed, and its processing cost. We use it to run the service, answer support requests and watch our costs. It is deleted when you delete your account.
Please do not paste personal information about yourself or others into a text.
Word content and audio
To prepare your word cards, the server generates meanings, example sentences and AI voice audio for words (not your full text). Generated examples and audio are stored in a shared library and reused for all users who study the same word. They do not contain your account information.
Word packs
When you add an event word pack, we record that your account added it (pack and time) so that you receive it only once and can get it back on a new device.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) with your account identifier, your device's time zone and app language, and your notification choices, to tell you when your words are ready and to send service notices. Promotional notifications (for example, holiday word packs) are sent only if you turn them on separately in Settings; we record when you agreed. We use your time zone so that promotional notifications do not arrive at night.
Notices in the app and the ad settings the app downloads contain no personal information and do not require an account.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive the subscription status and a transaction identifier, not your payment details.
Technical data
Our server keeps short-term logs (time, request type, error codes, approximate usage) to run the service, prevent abuse and fix errors. Logs do not contain the texts you analyze.
Usage statistics
If you allow it, the app sends usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase: which screens and features are used (for example, that an analysis finished, how many words were saved, or that a study session ended), with your approximate country or region. We use them to improve the app. They never include the texts you analyze, your words or your recordings, are not linked to your account, do not use the advertising identifier and are not used for advertising. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland this is off unless you turn it on; elsewhere it is on and you can turn it off at any time in Settings › Your data › Share usage statistics.
3. Advertising
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android), IP address and information about your device and how you interact with ads. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- iOS: we ask for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you do not allow tracking, you still see ads, but they are not personalized using your IDFA.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: we ask for your consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads are shown.
- Change your choice: in the app, go to Settings → Privacy choices (shown where required), or use your device's privacy and ad settings.
- Subscribers (PLUS) do not see ads.
Rewarded ads (watching an ad to get one more analysis or more study cards) work the same way. Rewards may be verified by our server using a reward identifier from Google.
4. Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us run the app, and only for that purpose:
| Provider | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Cloud Scheduler) | Run our server | Requests while they are processed |
| Neon (Postgres) | Store accounts, credits and records | Account ID, credits, job records, results until delivered, push tokens |
| Cloudflare R2 | Store generated audio | Word and example audio (no account data) |
| Firebase (Google) | Sign-in, notifications, usage statistics (if allowed) | Account identifier, email (if shared), push token; usage events without account ID |
| OpenAI, Google Gemini | Find words and generate meanings and examples | Text you analyze (deleted after processing) |
| Microsoft Azure Speech | Generate AI voice | Words and example sentences |
| Google AdMob | Ads (free version) | See section 3 |
| Apple, Google | Sign-in, purchases | As described by those services |
Our AI providers process the text to return a result. Under our agreements with them, they do not use it to train their models.
5. Where data is processed
Our server runs in the United States. If you live elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep data
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Texts you analyze and analysis results | Deleted when your device receives the result, or within 24 hours |
| Word preparation results | Deleted when your device receives them, or within 7 days |
| Job records (no text or words) | Until you delete your account |
| Word packs you added | Until you delete your account |
| Push token and notification choices | Until you turn notifications off, the token stops working, or you delete your account |
| Account, credits, subscription status | Until you delete your account |
| Server logs | 30 days |
7. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: Settings → Delete account. We delete your sign-in account, job records, word pack records and push tokens, and revoke Sign in with Apple. The app then starts over with a new anonymous identifier. Data on your device stays until you delete the app. Records of actions our staff took (for example, looking up your account for a support request) are kept for security.
- Delete a text: delete it in the app. Texts are never kept on our server.
- Ads: see section 3.
- Notifications: turn them off in Settings or in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, contact info@nzenlabs.com.
EEA and UK users. We process your information to provide the service you asked for (contract), for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and working, and with your consent for personalized ads. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents. We do not sell personal information. Sharing the advertising identifier with ad partners for personalized ads may count as "sharing" under California law; you can opt out by declining tracking or changing your ad choices as described in section 3.
8. Children
MyVocabNow is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections, keep provider keys in a secret store, limit who can access our systems, and delete texts after analysis. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Changes
We will update this policy when the app changes. If changes are significant, we will let you know in the app. The date at the top shows the latest version.
